Currency

Georgian currency of money is Lari (GEL) and coins are called Tetri.
Notes are issued in denominations GEL500, 100, 50, 20, 10, 5, 2 & 1.
Any of world currency can easily be exchanged to Lari at the banks and currancies like USD, Euro and Pound Sterling can be change at any exchange point.
Cash is the preferable method of payment, though the credit cards are accepted in certain hotels, some restaurants, shops and cafes in Tbilisi. The cash withdrawal can be performed at ATM-s in most of the big cities of the country.
The import of foreign currency is permitted. The export of money is limited to 30 000 Lari or its equivalent in foreign currency.
